Wine Summary
d'Arenberg's Osborn family are founding members of Australia's First Families of Wine, with the flamboyant Chester Osborn now at the helm. Their iconic 5-level Cube cellar door offers a range of wine experiences including a restaurant and a wine sensory room. This is 2014 release from McLaren Vale is "A powerhouse with its ripe dark fruits, spice and warm earth with a distinct ferrous-ironstone character. Full-bodied, ripe yet assertive tannins and a certain polish to the finish. 95pts Gold." Jane Faulkner, The Halliday Wine Companion. Of the name, the d'Arenberg site tells us: "This vineyard was one of the original plantings on the land Joseph Rowe Osborn purchased in 1912. Despite being teetotal, he was inspired to purchase vineyards for his family, a choice that continues to reap benefits today. You could say it was his afflatus (an impulse of creative power or inspiration)".
